"Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful (Hebrews 10:19-23, NIV)."
Have you ever been reading a passage of Scripture and a word jumps off the page at you? That is exactly what happen to me this morning. I was reading this familiar passage in the book of Hebrews when I saw it. I admit most of the times my eyes want to jump to the word "hope" in Hebrews 10:23. However, my heart needed to pause on the word "unswervingly" today. This word means to "never turn aside," "to be steadfast and loyal." In the Greek this word (κατέχω) is derived from two words: Kata (to hold down (fast) and Echo (keep in memory).
Today, like me, you may be facing a situation that may cause you to want to shrink back in fear. Let's hold fast to our heavenly Father and remember HE IS FAITHFUL!
